ABOUT US
Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union was founded in 1971 to provide co-operative banking to the Lismore and Cappoquin communities.
The registered office of the credit union is in Lismore a town steeped in the history surrounding its famous castle. Lismore has been a centre of learning since its foundation.

SERVICES
We have a wide range of services to meet all the community’s needs.
Travel Insurance
The credit union Starplan insurance is a comprehensive world wide travel insurance policy. This policy is available on an individual or family basis. A further 10% discount applies if you are borrowing from your credit union for your holiday.
Members can avail of AutoUnion Car Exclusive, which is an exclusive deal with First Call Direct. Please ring AutoUnion at 1850 259 259
Health Insurance
We offer our members 10% discount if they are members of our group schemes with both VHI and BUPA.
House Insurance
You can insure your house and contents with HomeUnion 50 and HomeUnion 25 at very competitive rates. Discounts of 35% are also available on your premium.
Repayment Protection Insurance
Repayment Protection Insurance is a policy which meets your loan repayments for a specified period of time should you be forced out of work for any number of reasons e.g. accident, illness or redundancy. Members with existing loans can also avail of this insurance. Repayment Protection Insurance is optional on loans and is priced competitively.
Life Savings Insurance
Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union provide Life Insurance Cover on eligible members up to €12,700. Once earned, the insurance stays in force, provided that the member does not withdraw their savings.
Loan Protection Insurance
Members with borrowings have free Life Insurance Loan Protection Insurance up to the age of 80years. Under this loan protection scheme, the loan is cleared on the death of the member.
Death Benefit Insurance
For €6.86 per annum, a sum of €1,300 is added to a members account in the event of death. This annual fee is deducted from the dividend, or should the dividend not be sufficient, members can pay this amount over the counter. Once the member has opened their account before their 70th birthday and remain a member they automatically qualify. This insurance was introduced to cover the cost of funerals.

We sell drafts in Euros,
Payroll Deductions
We can set up a payroll deduction from your wages to be paid to your credit union account. Click HERE to contact us and we will make the arrangements.
LOANS
At Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union loans are available at very competitive rates. The repayment period is generally dependent on purpose of loan i.e. car purchase/home improvements – 5 years, car insurance/holiday – 1 year. Repayments can be tailored to the member’s requirements.
Loans can be repaid before term at no penalty and if you have difficulties repaying your loan we will offer a sympathetic ear.
Your loan is protected under our loan protection policy at no extra cost (terms and conditions apply). If you wish you can also protect your loan in the event of accident, critical illness or redundancy (Repayment Protection Insurance).
Our loan application process is designed to be hassle free with minimum paperwork.

JOIN US
The common bond is the factor, which unites the members of the credit union.
If you work or live in Lismore or Cappoquin or the surrounding area you are part of our common bond and eligible to join us.
Because of the common bond, all members have the good of their community at heart. They know and trust each other. The common bond ensures that the savings of members of the community are available to fellow members as loans. It also enables members to know each other and to make credit judgments on character and personal record rather than on commercial `risk’ factors.
Shareholder's.
By opening your account with Lismore & Cappoquin Credit Union you become a shareholder which entitles you to one vote in the running of your credit union. You can exercise this vote at the Annual General Meeting.
Juvenile Accounts
You must be 16 years of age to become a member. If you are under 16 years of age you can open a juvenile account.
We also accept group and club accounts within our common bond.
Money Laundering Requirements
Under the terms of the Criminal Justice Act 1997 we require proof of address e.g. utility bill or payslip and proof of identity e.g. passport or drivers licence with each membership application
YOUTH
Student loans
Why not contact the credit union if you are considering a student loan. We will arrange the repayments to suit your circumstances.
Poster Competition
The poster competition, which usually runs in October, is open to both primary and secondary schools. In recent years we have had a national winner.
